No doubt about it! Melo & rest of the Knicks are the kings of New York.

The Nets and Knicks played for the third time this season tonight (first game at MSG) and the Knicks prevailed with a fourteen point victory as they step up the defensive intensity in the second half. Entering the season many people in and outside of New York City picked the Nets as New York's best team. Instead the Knicks have flipped the script and like the Clippers in LA it seems impossible to find people in their respective cities picking the other team as the cities best. Question came about who is the best player, coach, center, bench, etc. As of right now the answers are Melo, Woodson, Chandler, toss up, and as for best team KNICKS!

The Nets had high hopes entering the season, but they have lost eight out of their last ten games. Williams and Johnson are not the league's best backcourt, they are Brooklyn's backcourt, but not even close to being the league's best. Avery Johnson was picked by many to be coach of the year, but now it looks like he will be lucky to make it to the end of the season as Nets' coach.

Amar'e Stoudemire is set to return soon, and his impact on the Knicks will be huge. Outside of Tyson Chandler the Knicks lack healthy bigs. Rasheed Wallace has been in and out of the lineup, and Camby has no effect on the team this season. Amar'e can provide points in the paint, and much needed rebounding. Melo has been playing like a MVP, and Amar'e could be the league's best bench player to go along with possible coach of the year Mike Woodson.

The Knicks play the Lakers on Christmas Day on ABC. I am looking foward to see how the Knicks play on the road, and if the Knicks can keep this pace up for the rest of the season they will be a legit contender in the East. Tonight's game showed us the Knicks are the best team in New York. Now are they the best team in the Eastern Conference?
